Polaris Slingshot 10 Celebrates a Decade of the Three-Wheeled Roadster

Apparently, it’s been a decade since the Polaris Slingshot first graced us with their absolutely strange three-wheeled roadster, which ably straddles the fine line between a motorcycle and an automobile. While not exactly a massive hit, it’s managed to carve out its own niche among like-minded enthusiasts who revel in the stupidly fun charms such a unique powersports vehicle is able to deliver. The Polaris Slingshot 10 is a new model designed to celebrate that decade-long run.

Billed as “a true showpiece to honor 10 years of the Slingshot,” the vehicle is based on the top-of-the-range R model, so you get the more powerful engine, the vented sport hood, and all the other premium features. Of course, they throw in a few more niceties for the anniversary model, such as an exclusive instrument cluster, an anniversary edition steering wheel, and more.

The Polaris Slingshot 10 is powered by a ProStar 2.0-liter four cylinder engine, which puts out 204 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque. That’s enough power to let it go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds, as well as hit electronically limited top speeds of 125 mph. That engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission, although buyers can also opt for the outfit’s AutoDrive automatic transmission, which adds paddle shifters on the steering wheel when you want to shift gears on demand.

The vehicle gets independent double wishbone suspension with forged aluminum control arms, as well as revised twin tube gas-charged coil over shocks. It moves using five-spoke honeycomb aluminum wheels and Kenda SS-799 tires, with the rear tire being bigger than the two out front, while four-piston Brembo brakes give it the necessary stopping power. The vehicle also gets the same vented sport hood from the R, albeit with a premium tri-tone paint job that gives it an even sportier look from every angle.

The Polaris Slingshot 10 gets a fresh interior that features color-matched steering wheel, instrument cluster, and glove box, as well as limited-edition heated and cooled seats. Yep, they put in cooled seats to help you out during hotter days, as an alternative to AC (AC doesn’t make sense on an open-top trike, after all). There’s a Stage 3 Max Rockford-Fosgate stereo system, which incorporate large 8-inch speakers , along with multi-color, app-controlled lighting installed throughout the cockpit, so you can turn the ride into a veritable party on wheels any time you feel like it. You can even control them from the Slingshot LED phone app, which you can use to set lighting zones, adjust colors, and add all sorts of effects to the lighting.

There’s a seven-inch infotainment screen running the outfit’s Ride Command+ software, arguably the best powersports infotainment system in the market today. And yes, it runs Apple’s CarPlay, so you can pair your iPhone with the system. Other standard features include cruise control, ESC, traction control, and a 7.5-inch tall wind deflector.

The Polaris Slingshot 10 is available as a limited edition vehicle, so you might want to put down money early if you’re looking at getting one. Price starts at $38,999.
