Roofnest Condor 2 XXL Air Rooftop Tent Sleeps Four People Comfortably

We’ve always thought three-person shelters were already pushing it, as far as the amount of floorspace you can cram into a rooftop tent. Apparently, we were so wrong because the Roofnest Condor 2 XXL Air goes even harder by offering enough floor area to sleep a quarter of campers.

That’s right, this rooftop tent is designed to fit up to four adults comfortably, allowing you to cram your whole barbershop quartet inside a single elevated shelter. If you want a rooftop tent that maximizes the amount of shelter space you can have on top of your car, this is definitely the tent you want to consider integrating into your car camping setup.

The Roofnest Condor 2 XXL Air is a hardshell rooftop tent that folds up into a cargo box that, unsurprisingly, takes up the entirety of your vehicle’s roof. It weighs a whopping 205 pounds, too, so you know there’s a whole lot of tent hiding underneath that shell. Despite the large size, Roofnest claims it’s their fastest-deploying tent ever, which it achieves courtesy of self-deploying rainfly U-bars and an integrated ladder that assists with the setup process. When deployed, the tent reveals a pair of foam core air mattresses that combine to provide a 51-square-foot sleeping surface that measures 8 x 6.5 feet (length x width). The mattresses are two inches thick, so they should offer plenty of comfortably cushioning, both of which come with fitted bamboo sheets and a puffy blanket.

When deployed, the tent has a maximum headroom of 50 inches, so you can sit up pretty comfortably inside, with four-way windows ensuring air can circulate freely when you want. If you want an additional shaded area for lounging, you can integrate the kickstand canopy or zip on the two weatherproof awnings. It also comes with two detachable pockets, three LED lights, and a six-pocket gear grid.

The Roofnest Condor 2 XXL Air has a hardshell cut in a rugged ABS composite, with an internal aluminum frame for additional structural support. Suffice to say, this thing will capably protect your tent the whole time its folded. Not only is it strong enough to offer protection, the hardshell is strong enough that you can install the outfit’s six-channel crossbars on top, allowing you to mount additional cargo onto the roof, despite already carrying a massive four-person tent that uses up the entire roof rack. According to the outfit, the six-channel crossbars can support up to 150 pounds of cargo. Do note, you will need to remove all the cargo, along with the crossbars, before you can deploy the tent once you’re at camp.

The fabric parts of the tent are cut in a thick, insulating, and light-blocking 280gsm tent material, ensuring it can offer a comfortable retreat from your immediate surroundings, while the rainfly is cut in coated polyoxford. According to the outfit, the tent is designed to fit best on full-size vehicles, such as SUVs, wagons, and vans, which, given the size, definitely makes sense.

The Roofnest Condor 2 XXL Air is available now, priced at $4,395.
