Razer Viper Mini Signature Edition Mouse Combines Ultra-Light Magnesium Frame With Top-End Gaming Specs

Different people look for different things when it comes to their gaming mouse. Some prefer those with basic functionality, while others want a mouse with fancy bells and whistles. Some prefer a little heft, while others want their mouse to be as light as possible. The Razer Viper Mini Signature Edition is designed for the last group, combining an extremely lightweight build with high-end specs that rival the best gaming peripherals.

Weighing just 49 grams, it’s the lightest mouse the outfit’s ever made. Is it the lightest ever? No, that honor belongs to the FinalMouse Ultralight 2, which is even lighter at 47 grams (1.72oz). However, the specs on that don’t really hold up to Razer’s lightweight option here, making this an ideal option for folks who want top-end functionality with a lightweight form factor.

The Razer Viper Mini Signature Edition uses a hole-filled exterior similar to other lightweight mouse designs. Except, instead of using plastic, they used an anodized magnesium alloy. Going this route allowed the outfit to not just punch holes in a honeycomb pattern onto the mouse housing like similar lightweight accessories, but create a full exoskeletal design that doesn’t compromise structural integrity. As such, you get a skeletal housing that, the outfit claims, is lighter than titanium while being more rigid than plastic, ensuring it will hold up to the most demanding gaming sessions. Is it strong enough to survive being slammed on the desk or hurled at the wall when you’re tilting after a loss? Well, that’s the idea.

It’s equipped with the Razer Pro Focus 30K optical sensor, which has a maximum sensitivity of 30,000 DPI, 750 IPS max speed, and 70G of max acceleration, with plenty of settings adjustments available. They pair that with the outfit’s third-generation optical mouse switches, which are rated for 90 million clicks, with five programmable buttons available, so you can offload functions right on your mouse. The included wireless dongle boasts a 4,000 Hz polling rate, too, ensuring every action you perform is executed with no lag.

The Razer Viper Mini Signature Edition has an onboard battery rated at 60 hours of use between charges, so you can enjoy days upon days of gaming before needing to recharge. In case it drains out mid-game, you can also use it wired via USB-C connection. It comes with two sets of custom rubber grip tape for customizing the way it feels in your hand, while two sets of feet (PTFE and Gorilla Glass 3) let you use whichever set gives the best traction for whatever surface you’re playing on. Is this better than Razer’s own Viper V2 Pro? From what we can tell, they’re fitted with mostly the same specs, although this one does weigh 11 grams lighter, so if you prefer as light a mouse as possible, this is an upgrade you’ll probably want to make.

The Razer Viper Mini Signature Edition comes out February 11th, priced at $279.99. Yes, that’s a real price for a gaming mouse. To make you feel better about the cost, they do package it in a fancy case similar to a watch box, so it’s got that jewelry vibe.
