Kegerators are great for having cold beer on tap. Coming in at sizes a little bigger than most mini-fridges, though, they are quite a pain to bring along when you want to have that same cold beer at the beach, the campsite, or the tailgate party. The Kombi Cool Tap is looking to address that with this portable, non-electric kegerator solution.
At first glance, it looks like an oversized water jug. You know… the kind you got cold water or juice from during Little League back in the day. Except, that insulated cooler is actually designed to hold a standard five-gallon keg, allowing you to enjoy cold beer on tap during your summer adventures.
The Kombi Cool Tap consists of a tall insulated cooler that measures 31.1 x 17.6 x 23.8 inches (height x width x depth), along with all the accessories you’ll need to run a proper kegerator system. That includes a beer shank and tap out front for drawing all that delicious, along with a mounting compartment for your CO2 canister, connectors, and lines for both the tap and the CO2. According to the outfit, it can fit sixtel kegs (5.2 gallons), standard five-gallon Cornelius kegs, and 2.5-gallon mini-kegs if you’re only going out with a small group of friends.
To use, simply put in your keg inside, then connect the line for the tap and the line for the CO2. Put your CO2 canister in the designated compartment and hook that up to the line, as well, then set your CO2 regulator. From there, you just fill the rest of the space with ice, putting the lid on to keep the cold air trapped inside. Since this is non-electric, the ice will be what’s going to keep the beer chilled the whole time, with the built-in insulation making it last for days. According to the outfit, this thing can keep ice for up to five days, allowing you to enjoy cold beers on tap for extended periods (provided you don’t drink it all in one night, of course).
The Kombi Cool Tap works with 74-gram CO2 cartridges, so you can use standard disposable cartridges or your kitchen’s Sodastream cartridge on this thing if the kids don’t mind missing their soda maker for a bit. The cooler itself is made from rotomolded high-density PE plastic, so this should be as durable as your standard rolling cooler, with a drain at the bottom, so you can empty all that water out easily. Sadly, it doesn’t come with wheels, so you can’t simply push it around, requiring you (and probably another dude) to carry it using the side handles, since the cooler itself weighs 33.5 pounds on its own (add in a full sixtel and that’s pretty hefty). The lid, by the way, comes with built-in cup holders, so you can use it as a standing table for setting your drink down wherever you go.

A Kickstarter campaign is currently running for the Kombi Cool Tap. You can reserve a unit for pledges starting at $399.
