Kara Pure 2 Can Extract 10L of Water from the Air Every Day

Kara made waves a couple years ago with the original Kara Pure, which literally pulled water from the air and made it perfectly potable. It’s the perfect device for a water-scarce dystopian future that, we’re hoping, doesn’t actually happen. This time around, they’re showing off the next generation of that unique water dispenser in the form of the Kara Pure 2.

At first glance, it looks like any water dispenser. You know… the kind that lets you put your shaker bottle in and press a button to get some fresh water. Except, there’s no water jug on top nor does it have any connection to your plumbing, making you wonder where the heck that water is coming from.

The Kara Pure 2 is billed as “the next evolution” of their air-to-water device, which, the outfit claims, is better, cleaner, and easier to use than its predecessor. Equipped with the outfit’s advanced desiccant technology, the device is able to extract up to 10 liters (2.6 gallons) of alkaline water daily, which it rips straight out of the air and enriches it with different essentially minerals. Specifically, they infuse it with calcium, magnesium, potassium, zinc, sodium, and silicic acid, essentially turning air into healthy water with a 9.2pH+ alkaline rating.

According to the outfit, it uses a new filtration technology that ensures 99.99 percent purity (no need for a water filter pitcher), as well as a commercial-grade air filter, so it enhances the air quality inside your home in the process of extracting water, which is a nice side effect. It also boasts a new commercial-grade water recirculation feature that effectively eliminates the need for quarterly descaling, while also cooling down water to 45 degrees Fahrenheit, ensuring you get refreshing hydration each time out. Since it draws water from the air, there’s no plumbing needed, making it incredibly easy to install. It’s relatively hassle-free, too, since you have to refill and replace water jugs regularly like traditional water dispensers.

The Kara Pure 2 has a dispensing area that can accommodate up to 64oz water bottles, so you can totally put your large Stanley Quencher in there with no issue. Not only does it cool water, it can heat it, too, with an adjustable temperature setting, so you can use it to make tea without having to use the electric kettle. Speaking of adjustments, all of those can be done from the touchscreen display on top, which lets you monitor all sorts of system settings, as well as tweak a variety of settings.

Kara says they made all sorts of other updates compared to the first generation, making it a substantially improved version. For instance, they made it taller for easier access, while moving the spout a little closer to the front for easier water collection. Other features include an easier-to-change filter design, stronger internal structure for better durability, 99 percent pure copper piping, a 20 percent larger pouring area, a storage capacity of 11.5L (three gallons), and Wi-Fi connectivity. Do note, all that copper and steel construction makes this quite the hefty device, tipping the scales at 79 pounds, so it’s not going to be fun to move around the house.

A Kickstarter campaign is currently running for the Kara Pure 2. You can reserve a unit for pledges starting at $3,899.
