Character Toolbox Puts Your Tools in a Nicer, More Organized Storage Case

Most compact toolboxes have a top-down design that give you a wide open compartment for organizing your tools as you see fit. They also have a familiar look that makes it apparent you’re looking at a toolbox even at first glance. Heck, the same rings true even for tool bags. That’s not quite the case with the Character Toolbox, which gives the classic toolbox some fresh style and more efficient organization.

At first glance, we doubt you’ll even think this thing is a toolbox We mean, it looks more like a make up kit your friendly neighborhood beauty stylist will be hauling around, rather than something your handyman neighbor will carry in hand when coming in to fix the kitchen sink. However, that’s exactly what it’s designed to be.

The Character Toolbox redesigns the erstwhile classic storage in a few ways. Instead of coming with a single large compartment (and the occasional removable tray on top), you get three levels of storage, including a pair of pull-out drawers. That means, you can have an easier time organizing all your hand tools, fasteners, and supplies, making it easy to find any specific item, eliminating the need to dig through a messy pile of stuff, such as you normally get with traditional toolboxes.

Each of the storage compartments are fitted with silicone liners designed to provide a textured surface for your tools, ensuring they stay in place during transit, instead of moving around and turning into a jumbled mess. They offer a decent amount of room on each level, too, with the top tray measuring 14.5 x 8 x 2 inches (width x depth x height) and each of the drawers coming in at 13.5 x 7.1 x 2.5 inches (width x depth x height). Sure, that makes it difficult to accommodate larger tools, but, let’s be honest, you’re likely to be carrying hand tools and other smaller items if you’re going with a classic toolbox form factor.

The Character Toolbox has a quick lift lid that opens similar to traditional toolboxes, with a slide closure ensuring it doesn’t accidentally open. You’ll want to engage that lock if you want to carry it using the handle on the lid, which should make moving it around the house or anywhere else an easier affair. The drawers, on the other hand, boast smooth sliders that should allow them to open and close without any trouble. According to the outfit, each level of storage compartments can support up to 15 pounds each.

Construction is 22-gauge steel, by the way, so this should be durable enough to handle busy work sites, with protective rubber feet ensuring it doesn’t scratch any surface you set it down on. According to the outfit, they were going for an aesthetic that looks more suited to storing on a shelf somewhere in your home, instead of looking like it belongs on a job site or a garage. Well, they definitely got that part right, especially with the brighter colorways, which make these a whole lot less intimidating than your typical toolbox.
