Breeo makes some of the best smokeless fire pits around with their X Series, whose distinct Corten finish creates a natural coating that protects the material instead of degrading it over time. That same protective finish finds its way to their newest accessory, the Breeo Live-Fire Pizza Oven, which lets you crank out delicious pizzas straight out of the fire pit.
Just like other pizza oven accessories for fire pits, this sits on top of the outfit’s wood-burning metal vessel, using the heat it produces to raise the temperature inside the oven. The result is a proper wood-fired oven for the backyard that you can use to cook pizzas, barbecues, and all sorts of other food items.
The Breeo Live-Fire Pizza Oven consists of a cylindrical housing designed to sit flush on top of the outfit’s X24, X30, and Luxeve fire pits (sadly, it’s not compatible with their portable fire pit model), with the X30 requiring an optional adapter in order to accommodate the oven. It’s completely open from the bottom, allowing fire and heat from the pit to rise straight up into the oven, while a lower front opening lets you tend to the wood in the pit without having to remove the oven (just throw in your logs in there) and an upper opening gives you easy access to the main cooking area.
A thermometer on the side allows you to keep tabs on the temperature inside the oven, making it easy to check the heat levels during preheating, while a chimney on top can be opened when you want to release some of the hot air anytime it gets too hot. Each oven comes with a Cordierite pizza stone that’s 7/8th of an inch in thickness, which, the outfit claims, allows it to retain heat far longer than most pizza stones in the market. Do note, the opening for the oven isn’t very tall, so it’s ideal for breads, pizzas, and smaller chunks of meat, rather than whole roast chickens or roast lamb legs. You can probably try cramming them, but it looks a tad awkward.
The Breeo Live-Fire Pizza Oven takes a while to preheat, so you’ll want to set aside anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the weather, to get it hot enough to actually crank out pizzas. Fortunately, the thermometer outside makes it easy to check if it’s hot enough at any point. Once it’s preheated, though, you should be able to cook pizzas in a minute or two, with the 19-inch diameter cooking stone able to support even larger-sized doughs.
It measures 19 x 27.5 inches (height x diameter), so it’s big enough you’ll definitely want to make some room to store it when not in use. It’s also heavy, tipping the scales at 76 pounds with the pizza stone onboard, so you probably want two people taking it off the pit after cooking (it’s hard not to touch the hot surface if you’re holding both handles on the sides). The oven is available in either the outfit’s signature Corten steel or stainless steel finish.
The Breeo Live-Fire Pizza Oven is available now, priced at $850.
