Bringing a beach canopy you can lounge underneath in is a common thing to do when spending a day at the beach. Nobody wants to spend an entire day getting hammered by searing sun rays, after all. Problem is, it keeps you stuck on the shore if you want to be adequately shielded from the sun. The Bote Hangout Shade changes that.
Just like any beach canopy, you can set it up right on the sand anywhere on the beach, giving you a covered area to park your beach chairs while keep the scorching sun off your skin. However, it’s also designed to work with the outfit’s Hangout Dock, an inflatable swim platform that floats, allowing you to set up the shaded area right on the water.

The Bote Hangout Shade is an inflatable canopy, so you can fold it up and throw it in the boot of the car during transport, making it easy to take to the beach or anywhere else. The shell is made using the outfit’s Aerotech PVC, the same military-grade material they use for their inflatable SUPs, so this thing should be rugged and durable as heck. It uses inflatable beams as the primary structure, which supports a tall, arched awning cut in the same PVC material. When collapsed, by the way, the whole thing folds into a backpack, making it easy to carry from the car to wherever you’re setting up for the day.
Two sizes are available. There’s the Dock 7, which measures 6.7 x 6.2 x 8.2 feet (width x height x depth) when fully inflated, while offering a shade coverage area of 49 square feet. The Dock 10 doubles the coverage area at 100 square feet, all while measuring 9.6 x 6.8 x 9.8 feet when fully blown up. Pump is not included, by the way, so you’ll have to use whatever pump you have in your stash (or buy one that’s compatible with this). They weigh 35.3 pounds and 41.9 pounds, respectively.

The Bote Hangout Shade can be secured to the ground using any standard camping stakes, so it shouldn’t require any special gear. However, the outfit also sells optional sand anchors, in case you want to use those, instead. According to the outfit, the whole thing can inflate and set up in roughly five minutes. Of course, that’s assuming you have a relative fast air pump, so it could be much slower if you’re filling it up using something manual.

If you want to set it up on the water, you need the outfit’s Hangout Dock, which also comes in two sizes that match the sizes of each inflatable canopy. This floating inflatable swim platform is highly stable and durable, while coming with integrated connection straps, so you can easily set up the Shade on top of it. Do note, the platform is much heavier than the canopy, so it will add quite a bit of heft to your stash (you might need a beach wagon to offload the weight).
Want one? The Bote Hangout Shade is available now, priced starting at $669. The Hangout Dock starts at $999.
